Working for the People

Meet Rob Geringer

Early Life

Rob Geringer grew up on the family farm in Wheatland, where hard work was expected and good Wyoming values were exhibited daily. The grandson of German & Swedish immigrants on one side and descendant of early English settlers & Scots Irish immigrants on the other, he’s proud of his family heritage which is an example of how this great country was established. Following graduation from Wheatland High School, Rob attended the University of Wyoming, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. At UW he met his wife of 29 years, Crystal, who was born and raised in Cheyenne.

Returning Home

Like many of our young people, Rob and Crystal left the state to pursue professional opportunities. While living in Colorado, he earned his Master’s Degree in Engineering and worked as a registered Professional Engineer. After Rob and Crystal welcomed their first child, they realized they longed to be back in Wyoming, closer to family and wanting to raise their children around the values they grew up with. They soon welcomed their second daughter followed by their son a few years later.

Professional Life

Rob continued his professional engineering career in Wyoming working on projects involving roads, water, coal bed methane, land development, and civil and residential construction. In 2006 he went into business with partners, building homes around Wyoming, northern Colorado, and the oil fields of North Dakota.

In 2013 Rob began serving as the City Engineer for Cheyenne followed by Public Works Director for Laramie County. Those positions gave him an appreciation for the services provided by local government and the funding challenges associated with them.

However, he still had a desire to be a small businessman and entrepreneur. In 2016 Rob and Crystal started their own businesses that now include self-storage, residential rentals, and other real estate.

Family Life

Rob understands the pressures of raising kids in this electronic, fast-paced, values-challenged society. Early on in their children’s lives, he and Crystal were forced to have her working and have the kids in daycare. Later, they were fortunate to have her work from home and then have their small businesses that allowed the most flexibility to be involved in their kids' lives and activities. They’ve experienced the benefits and challenges of having their kids attend public school and spend some years in virtual school from home.

Rob and Crystal are proud of their children and the varied paths they’ve taken in life. Their oldest is married, training reining horses, and competing on behalf of clients. She and her husband are expecting their first child in September. Their second daughter is about to finish her nursing degree and has accepted a position in a hospital Emergency Department. Their son is finishing his senior year in high school and studying abroad.

Wyoming Proud

Rob’s upbringing and experience demonstrate his dedication to the great state of Wyoming and his understanding of our challenges. His varied roles in the private and public sectors and as a small business owner will bring value to state governance. Rob’s desire to serve is founded in his faith in God, family values, conservative ideals, and belief in the Wyoming way of life.
